August 16: 🏔 “Summit Secrets” — A One-Day G7 Legacy Adventure 🏔
Walk the same valleys that framed the world’s biggest headlines.
09:00
Depart Calgary – Sunnyside LRT. Grab a window seat; the skyline fades quickly into foothills that once hosted chopper fly-overs and satellite trucks.
10:15
Arrive Marmot Falls Trailhead. Quick stretch, summit trivia, and boots on the ground.
10:25–12:15
Troll & Marmot Falls Hike (≈4 km loop, 175 m gain). Two waterfalls, one winding canyon, endless “did-you-know-the-Prime-Minister” stories from your guide. Easy-moderate pace.
12:15–12:45
Shuttle to Upper Kananaskis Lake Day-Use. Watch for the helipad where security teams once staged.
12:45–13:30
Photo Time on the Shore. Glacial blues, alpine breeze, and a view the delegations could only glimpse between briefings.
13:30–14:30
Interlakes Trail (one-way 3 km, mostly flat). Trace the shoreline to the North Interlakes Day-Use area; wildflowers and summit-level photo stops.
14:30–15:30
Chill Hour. Skip stones, journal, or just breathe in spruce-scented air. Optional cold-plunge for the brave.
15:30–16:00
Transfer to Kananaskis Village. Story time: how 10,000 security personnel turned this quiet hamlet into a global newsroom.
16:00–17:00
Moody’s Craft Beer Bar – Kananaskis Nordic Spa. Raise a glass of Alberta-brewed IPA to “peace, prosperity, and pristine trails.” Non-alcoholic options & spa snacks on hand.
17:00–18:30
Return to Calgary with mountain glow and camera rolls full of unofficial summit shots.
Arrival time may drift with weather, wildlife jams, or encore waterfall selfies.
