    ⏱️ 10:30–16:30 — A six-hour hike to Upper Kananaskis Lake is a stop to enjoy the scenic trail.

    ⏱️ 6:00–7:30 p.m. — Dinner at Woody’s Pub & Patio (Canmore) — Canadian cuisine, craft beer, and a cozy patio with a view.

    ⏱️ 9:00 p.m. — return to Calgary

    🔺 This is a challenging route up to the lake. The trail is quite rocky, with elevation changes and long climbs. Good physical condition, comfortable shoes, and plenty of water are required.

💦 Upper Kananaskis Lake 💦

The Upper Kananaskis Lake Full Loop Trail is one of the most picturesque and popular active routes in Kananaskis Country. Here you will find mountain views, cascading waterfalls, wild forests, and numerous quiet coves overlooking the turquoise waters of the lake.

The full trail circles the entire lake, creating a loop of about 15–16 km with a slight elevation gain (approximately 300–400 m total).

Along the way, you will see:

  • 📸 Constant panoramic views of Mount Indefatigable, Mount Sarrail, and Mount Lyautey

  • 💦 Several picturesque waterfalls (including Rawson Falls)

  • 🌲 Wild forests, secluded coves, and beaches overlooking the lake

  • 🐿 High chance of encountering deer, marmots, and birds

The entire trail takes an average of 4–6 hours of active walking, depending on the pace of the group and the number of stops for photos and rest.
